The modern organisation is faced with increasing volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. M_o_R® (Management of Risk) helps you and your organisation identify, assess, and control risk at the strategic, programme, project, and operational levels. The M_o_R® course gives broad spectrum, best practice guidance, on identifying risk and managing risk impact. The areas covered include principles of risk management, differing perspectives on risk, risk interaction with people and culture and processes.

Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the Practitioner course, you will learn:

  • The purpose and principles of risk management.
  • Understand how risk management applies within and across the five perspectives.
  • Recognize the impact of people and culture on effective risk management.
  • Learn to utilize the eight risk management processes to create and safeguard value.
  • Course includes fictional case studies demonstrating practical application and adaptability across various sectors and organizations, regardless of operating model.
  • Be well prepared for the Practitioner exam.

M_o_R® (Management of Risk) Details

Our training is run with the purposes of learning the theory, preparing you for the exam, and applying in the real world. The sessions are a mixture of theory and discussion and practical group-based learning involving Post-it notes, markers, and flip chart paper. No laptops are required, all learning resources are supplied.

Our trainers apply practical examples from their decades of experience as hands-on Project and Programme Managers and adjust the course delivery to meet the needs of the attendees.

No prerequisite is required for attendance on the Practitioner course, but any Risk, Portfolio, Programme or Project Management exposure is an advantage. Our thorough pre-course work ensures you are ready for learning.

3 days for Practitioner (21 hours) – Typically 8:30 am for an 8:45 am start and a 5:00 pm finish with 1 hour for lunch and short morning and afternoon tea breaks. In addition, we suggest at least 10 hours of pre-course work and there is 1-2 hours of homework each night.

Once you register for the course you are sent the “Management of Risk” manual, pre-course exercises and our M_o_R Desk Reference. At the course, you are given a workbook that contains copies of all the slides, extensive notes, exam practice, exercises, and sample exams from PeopleCert.
